Sydney Fish Market Business Development Manager - Experiences

The Business Development Manager, Experiences is responsible for driving revenue growth across Sydney Fish Market’s portfolio of visitor experiences, with a key focus on the commercial growth of the Sydney Seafood School, Ngara event space along with the Sydney Fish Market Tours program.
The role will develop new business across corporate, tourism, private and trade markets, build strategic partnerships and distribution channels, and identify opportunities for new products, packages and cross-selling across the broader SFM offering.
The role requires a commercially driven sales leader with a strong track record of achieving ambitious revenue targets and developing new business, preferably within tourism, hospitality, events or experience-led businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a high-performing sales strategy focused on achieving and exceeding ambitious revenue targets predominantly for events but also for private cooking classes and tours.
- Proactively identify, target, and convert current business opportunities, particularly with corporate clients, premium brands and tourism agencies and operators.
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen in pricing, proposal development, and contract negotiation to maximise revenue and profitability.
- Report on sales KPIs and revenue targets, providing regular forecasts and insights as required.
- Draw on experience from multi-venue or multi-site businesses to optimise sales processes, client segmentation, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Oversee all aspects of client relationship management, including growth of client databases, and maintenance and effective utilisation of CRM.
- Collaborate with the broader Sydney Fish Market commercial and marketing teams to develop campaigns, packages, and partnerships that drive sales growth.
- Manage profitability through accurate budgeting, effective upselling, and cost controls (working with Operations team).
- Oversee delivery of private cooking classes, events or venue hire through provision of accurate briefs, costings and documentation, working with Operations team as required.
- Actively represent and promote Sydney Fish Market Tours and Sydney Seafood School at relevant tourism trade shows, industry events, sales missions and networking opportunities, generating new leads, partnerships and commercial opportunities and managing these through to conversion.
- Develop and execute a dedicated business development strategy for the Sydney Fish Market Tours program, with a focus on growing visitation, revenue, distribution and market reach.
- Proactively develop relationships with inbound tour operators, DMCs, wholesalers, travel agents, OTAs, hotels, cruise operators and other tourism distribution partners.
Knowledge,
Skills & Experience
- Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets in a premium hospitality, events, tourism, or experience-led business.
- Experience selling for businesses with multiple venues, diverse event offerings, or multi-site operations is highly desirable.
- Strong ability to prospect, secure, and manage B2B and B2C sales pipelines.
- Highly developed negotiation, influencing, and closing skills.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including contract development and pricing strategies.
- Excellent relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to build long-term, repeat client relationships.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Experience working with inbound tour operators, online travel agencies, ground handlers and other agents on commission.
- Existing networks within corporate, MICE, or events markets.
- Familiarity with event management platforms, CRM systems, sales tracking tools, and reporting platforms.
- Passion for food, cooking, and premium experiences.
- Australian Working Rights.
