Tyabb

Business Development & Sales Consultant – Shade Sail Services

Location: Melbourne / Victoria (field-based)
Full-time | Base + Commission

Shade Sail Services is looking for a capable, self-motivated sales professional to help drive current business, manage client relationships, and convert incoming opportunities across Victoria. This is a hybrid role combining business development, sales, and account management, with a strong focus on winning work and building long-term relationships.

About Us

We’re a long-running business based in Tyabb, delivering shade sail projects across Victoria for over 16 years. We’re a small team that takes a practical, no-fuss approach to our work, and that means everyone chips in to help where needed to get the job done properly.

Our projects range from schools and commercial sites through to residential installs, so the role suits someone comfortable working across different customer types and project sizes. Because part of our work involves school environments and child-related sites, a valid Working with Children Check is required for this role.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, predominantly field-based role with autonomy and responsibility. You’ll manage your own schedule, develop new business opportunities, respond to inbound enquiries, and maintain strong relationships with clients throughout the sales process.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Generating new business opportunities across schools, builders, councils, commercial clients, and other target markets

- Managing inbound enquiries and converting them into site visits, quotes, and secured projects

- Visiting clients, assessing sites, and preparing scopes of work and quotations

- Managing a mix of outbound prospecting, inbound sales, and ongoing account management

- Building long-term relationships with clients to create repeat business and referrals

- Working closely with the Sales Manager and office team to coordinate project details and delivery

- Maintaining regular communication and follow-up with clients

- Achieving agreed sales and activity KPIs

- Supporting admin or operational tasks where needed as part of a small business team

About You

We’re looking for someone practical, reliable, and commercially minded — someone who can open doors, build trust, and follow through. You should be comfortable working independently, but also happy to step in and support others when needed as part of a close-knit team.

To do well in this role, you’ll need:

- Sales experience, ideally in construction, trades, or a similar service-based industry

- Strong business development capability and confidence generating your own opportunities

- The ability to manage a mix of inbound leads, outbound activity, and existing accounts

- Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with a wide range of customers

- Good time management and attention to detail

- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and quoting or documentation systems

- A current Australian Driver’s Licence

- Permanent Australian work rights

- A valid Working with Children Check, which employers may require for roles involving child-related sites in Victoria.
