About the Opportunity

Alphacrucis University College (AC) is seeking experienced educators, academics, teachers, educational leaders and education professionals to join our teaching community as Adjunct Lecturers in Education.

Adjunct Lecturers contribute contemporary professional practice, disciplinary expertise and industry experience to the delivery of university education programs. Depending on your qualifications and skilled experience, you may contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programs across Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and Secondary Education.

About the Role

As an Adjunct Lecturer, you may be involved in:

- Delivering engaging online synchronous tutorials using a flipped-classroom approach.

- Facilitating discussion, applied learning, assessment preparation and clarification of key concepts.

- Delivering approved on-campus or on-site lectures, intensives, workshops or equivalent face-to-face teaching.

- Supporting student engagement and participation throughout the unit.

- Marking assessment tasks and providing constructive, timely and consistent feedback.

- Applying assessment rubrics and accurately recording student grades.

- Providing student support and responding to student and colleague enquiries.

- Monitoring student engagement through Moodle and following up with disengaged students.

- Providing assessment guidance and responding to approved extension requests.

- Contributing to moderation and other approved academic quality activities.

- Working collaboratively with Subject Coordinators, Directors of Study, Program Directors and School staff.

- Participating in approved course, unit or resource development activities where required.

Areas of Specialisation

Early Childhood Education

Applicants with expertise and professional experience in early childhood education and care, including knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standard (NQS).





Primary Education

Applicants with qualifications and experience relevant to primary teaching, including knowledge of NESA syllabuses, ACARA and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL).

Secondary Education

Applicants with qualifications and experience relevant to secondary teaching and/or specific curriculum areas, including knowledge of NESA syllabuses, ACARA and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL).

About You

We are seeking passionate education professionals who can bring current skilled practice and disciplinary expertise into the university learning environment.

You will ideally have:

- A relevant Master's degree or PhD in Education or a related discipline.

- Qualifications and/or professional experience appropriate to your relevant teaching specialisation.

- Current or recent professional experience in education, teaching, educational leadership, research or a related field.

- Robust knowledge of contemporary educational practice and relevant Australian curriculum and skilled frameworks.

- An understanding of current issues affecting education and the teaching profession.

- A commitment to evidence-informed, reflective and student-centred educational practice.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- The ability to engage students in meaningful discussion and applied learning.

- The ability to provide constructive and developmental feedback.

- Strong organisation and time-management skills.

- Confidence using online learning platforms and educational technology.

- Committed to the Christian faith and aligned with AC’s mission and values.

Remuneration

Remuneration is based on the type of approved duties undertaken and the relevant qualification level.

Tutorials – includes 2 hours preparation per 1 hour tutorial $135.76/hr (Non-PhD Rate) $154.09/hr (PhD Rate)

Repeat Tutorials – includes 1 hour preparation per 1 hour repeat tutorial $90.48/hr (Non-PhD Rate) $102.67/hr (PhD Rate)

Marking – allocation based on 2 hours per student $45.22/hr (Non-PhD Rate) $51.36/hr (PhD Rate)

Administration & Student Support – allocation based on 20 minutes per student $45.22/hr (Non-PhD Rate) $51.36/hr (PhD Rate)

On-Campus/On-Site Lectures – includes 2 hours preparation per hour of lecture $173.99/hr (Non-PhD Rate) $173.99/hr (PhD Rate)

Other Approved Duties

Additional duties outside the standard tutorial, marking, administration/student support or lecture allocation must be approved in advance by the School.

These may include additional meetings, moderation, approved resource development, unit redevelopment or other duties requested by the Head of School, Director of Study, Program Director or Subject Coordinator. Payment will be determined according to the applicable approved rate and workload allocation.
