We are building production-grade, business-critical systems that streamline operations from customer order through to manufacturing, dispatch and delivery.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to architect, build, deploy and improve a custom internal enterprise platform that will power our end-to-end operations. The system will enable Maxum Foods to be agile and nimble in responding to customer feedback and continuously innovating to bring ideas to life.

The Opportunity

You will design and build a modern internal business platform covering:

- Customer order portal

- Inventory and stock management

- Purchasing and supplier workflows

- Manufacturing work orders

- Picking, packing, dispatch and delivery

- Route planning, tracking and proof of delivery

- Business reporting and operational dashboards

Your mandate is clear: Improve customer experience. Reduce manual work. Increase visibility and operational efficiency.

You will work directly with leadership and operational teams to translate real-world processes into reliable, automated systems.

What You'll Do

- Architect and build internal systems using AI-assisted development tools and structured prompting

- Design automation workflows and intelligent agents to streamline operations

- Build and maintain APIs and third-party integrations (logistics, mapping, accounting, CRM)

- Review, validate and productionise AI-generated code

- Implement CI/CD, monitoring, backups and deployment processes

- Ensure data integrity, idempotency, retry safety and consistent system behaviour





- Design security, permissions and audit controls appropriate for business-critical systems

- Own ongoing iteration, performance optimisation and operational stability

- You will be responsible for systems that the business runs on daily.

About You

You are commercially minded, systems-oriented and comfortable owning production environments. You likely have:

- Experience building and deploying production web applications (frontend + backend)

- Strong experience using AI-assisted coding tools in real-world systems

- The ability to guide AI through structured prompting and validate outputs rigorously

- Experience designing APIs and integrations (REST, webhooks, third-party services)

- A solid understanding of up-to-date web architecture and cloud deployment

- Confidence debugging, reviewing and improving generated code

- Experience owning systems post-deployment (monitoring, reliability, iteration)

- Exposure to manufacturing, logistics, or operational workflows (highly regarded)

You are comfortable with ambiguity, validate quickly with users, and iterate toward practical outcomes.
