As we continue to expand our product range and global footprint, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Draftsperson to join our engineering team.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Mechanical Draftsperson, you will play a key role in the design, development and continuous improvement of Austart products along with other engineered products.

This role requires more than drafting skills - we are looking for someone who has an understanding of how products are manufactured, assembled and tested, and who can identify potential design and production issues before they reach the workshop floor.

Role Requirements

- Create and maintain detailed SolidWorks models, assemblies and production drawings.

- Support new product development projects from concept through to production release.

- Produce manufacturing-ready drawings for machined components, castings, fabricated components and assemblies.





- Develop accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.

- Support workshop, assembly and production teams with technical guidance and drawing clarification.

- Assist with engineering change management and revision control processes.

- Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Management requirements.

- Ensure drawings and specifications comply with relevant Australian and international standards.

Essential Experience

- Extensive experience (10+ years) in mechanical drafting or mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.

- Advanced SolidWorks experience including:

- Parts

- Assemblies

- Configurations

- Detailed Drawing Production

- Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly and manufacturing processes.

- Experience producing manufacturing-ready engineering documentation.

- Strong understanding of tolerancing and mechanical design principles.

- Experience managing Bills of Materials and engineering change processes.

- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and the ability to work across multiple projects.

- Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality setting.
