Sales & Commercial Operations Lead

MGA Thermal is commercialising technology with the potential to transform one of the most challenging areas of the energy transition: industrial heat, which accounts for approximately 20% of global final energy consumption.

Our electro-thermal energy storage (eTES) technology enables industrial and manufacturing businesses to access cleaner, lower-cost energy around the clock. By storing renewable electricity and delivering it as high-grade heat, our technology is designed to help accelerate industrial decarbonisation. Compared with lithium-ion battery storage, it is 80% lower cost, 20 times more compact and better suited to delivering energy in the form many industrial customers need.

We are entering a pivotal stage of growth as we move from technology development towards broader commercial deployment. Our technology has been demonstrated at scale, flagship customer projects are progressing towards deployment, and strong policy and market drivers are accelerating demand.

Expanding our commercial capability is an important part of this next phase. As we grow in Australia and prepare for international expansion, we are seeking a Sales and Commercial Operations Lead to help progress new business opportunities and build the processes that underpin an effective sales function. This is a broad, hands-on opportunity for a technically minded commercial professional who is comfortable working across both customer development and sales operations.

The role

Working closely with our Chief Commercial Officer, Head of Business Development and broader technical and commercial teams, you will contribute to market and customer development including leading your own deals, while taking ownership of the coordination, tools and processes that support the commercial function.

You will research markets, industry trends and prospective customers, contribute to the development of MGA’s sales pipeline,

and participate in customer meetings, presentations and pitches. Drawing on your technical background, you will understand customer requirements, communicate MGA’s value proposition and support opportunities as they progress through the sales process. You will also build MGA’s market presence through industry engagement, networking and relationships with prospective customers and partners.

A significant part of the role will involve taking ownership and coordinating high-quality bids and proposals, developing customer-facing content, and preparing estimates and financial models to support pricing, opportunity assessment and business cases. You will take a hands-on role in developing and improving sales processes, tools and templates, maintaining accurate CRM information, and preparing pipeline reports to support commercial planning, forecasting and decision-making.

You will also contribute to commercial negotiations and the development of sales, partnership and licensing arrangements, while representing MGA professionally across customer, partner, industry and public-sector interactions.

About you

You will bring a technical foundation in engineering, science or a related discipline, combined with experience in business development, technical sales, sales operations or a related commercial environment. You will be comfortable working with both technical detail and commercial information and enjoy building practical processes as well as engaging with customers and developing opportunities.

You will have:

- tertiary qualifications in engineering, science or a related technical discipline

- three to five years’ professional experience, including experience in a technical engineering, science or industrial role

- the ability to understand MGA’s technology and how it may integrate with customer engineering requirements

- experience engaging with customers and external stakeholders in technical or industrial markets

- strong commercial awareness and demonstrated proposal development and writing skills

- experience preparing estimates and financial models to support commercial opportunities

- strong analytical skills, including the ability to research markets and interpret technical, customer and commercial information

- hands-on experience using CRM systems and improving sales processes, tools and templates

- excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills

- a proactive and adaptable approach suited to a growing, rapid-changing business.

Experience in an energy industry environment will be highly regarded, particularly across process heat, solar, renewable energy, power, gas or oil. Experience selling or supporting the sale of large-scale technical or engineered solutions, or an established network across relevant markets, would also be valuable.

Why join MGA Thermal?

You will join a mission-driven business working to solve complex energy challenges, with the opportunity to contribute directly to MGA’s commercial growth and help build the sales capability needed for its next stage.

You will work alongside the inventors of world-first technology and collaborate with technical and commercial specialists across a growing Australian business with global ambitions.

We respectfully request that no agency resumes are submitted. Unsolicited resumes will not be considered.
