The Organisation

Alpha HPA is a publicly listed, Australian-based company that has commercialised the world’s first solvent extraction (SX) purification technique applied to aluminium. This breakthrough process produces a growing range of ultra-high purity aluminium materials – oxides, hydroxides and nitrates – used across advanced industries such as LED lighting, synthetic sapphire, semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries.

Alpha HPA’s materials deliver market-leading purity levels with a significantly lower carbon profile. The Stage One HPA First Project in Gladstone is already in production – the first commercial application of Alpha HPA’s proprietary Smart SXTM process, producing >99.99% pure aluminium products.

Construction of the large-scale Stage Two facility is underway, with full-scale production targeted for mid-2027. Once operational, Alpha HPA will produce 10,000 tonnes of HPA equivalent per year, right here in Gladstone.

The Opportunity

Alpha HPA is seeking a Process Technician to join its Gladstone team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful operation of our production plant. This is a shift based role rotating days and nights on a lifestyle roster.





Process operators are team members responsible for carrying out essential functions that keep the plant running safely and productive. As a process operator, you may work in one of several different areas throughout the plant, where you’ll assist in monitoring the High Purity Alumina production process, conduct manual process checks, ensure that impurity management/quality protocols are adhered to and answer calls to support the process control technicians.

Key responsibilities

- Ensure that safety, risk and environmental rules and programs are strictly adhered to.
- Operate and maintain processing equipment according to operating guidelines using SOPs, supervisory input, process monitoring instrumentation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Monitor area to identify systems that may not be operating correctly.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with plant and equipment and work through issues to maintain production safely.
- Ability to work with other crews and departments to complete work.
- Complete operational Preventative Maintenance (PMs) to ensure efficient operation and process.
- Use mobile equipment in a safe manner.
- Focus on housekeeping to maintain a protected, clean work environment.
- Collect samples for laboratory analysis and conduct basic testing when required.
- Collect samples and initiate changes based on those results.

About You

You’ll bring:





- Process plant experience (preferred)
- Forklift Ticket (preferred or willing to be trained)
- Proven and demonstrated experience within a chemical handling/process operation environment (desired)
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience with industrial safe work procedures and practices
- Wearing personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, safety glasses, and steel-toes boots. Wear respirator, protective clothing and gloves as needed.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Pass written test for verification of understanding of the process and requirements for your area.
- Self-motivated and ability to work in a strong team environment.
- Ability to operate independently.
- Self-motivated, highly pro-active and resilient attitude.
- Willingness to find gaps in systems and be part of closing those gaps.
- Be proactive in driving your own training and area development.
