We're looking for an experienced and passionate climate professional to lead programs that help Lake Macquarie respond to the challenges of climate change, natural disasters and environmental risks. This is an opportunity to influence long-term planning, deliver meaningful projects and work with government, industry and community partners to strengthen resilience across our city.
As a Senior City Resilience Officer, you'll play a key role in developing and delivering initiatives that reduce climate-related risks while helping Council and the community prepare for a changing workplace. You'll combine strategic thinking, project leadership and stakeholder engagement to drive positive outcomes for Lake Macquarie.
This exciting role will:
- Lead and coordinate climate change adaptation projects and programs across Council
- Develop practical solutions that improve resilience to climate-related hazards and natural disasters
- Manage complex projects, including research, planning, consultation and implementation
- Oversee project budgets of up to $3 million
- Build strong partnerships with government agencies, industry representatives, community groups and other stakeholders
- Lead, mentor and support team members to achieve strategic environmental outcomes
- Identify and secure grant funding opportunities

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced environmental or climate professional who enjoys turning strategy into action and delivering outcomes that make a real difference to communities.
- A degree in Environmental Science,
Natural Resource Management, Climate Change Adaptation or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated success delivering complex projects in climate resilience, sustainability or natural resource management
- Strong knowledge in climate change adaptation, climate mitigation, environmental sustainability or a related discipline
- Experience developing and implementing programs, strategies and action plans
- Strong financial management and reporting skills
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- A Class C Driver's Licence

- Competitive salary from $118,937 to $138,224 per year + 12% superannuation
- Enterprise Agreement pay increases apply
- Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with annual reviews available to support movement through the salary range
