Become a 'Friends of Parks' volunteer at Mapleton Falls National Park and help the local Rangers with a variety of activities that will benefit a much-loved rainforest ecosystem on the Blackall Range.
These tasks may include
manual removal of various weeds
minor maintenance and repairs to the walking track
maintenance tasks including oiling of picnic tables and painting orientation signs
native revegetation and planting
rubbish collection
recording of fauna and flora observations, and more
Over time we hope the group develops a connection with the area and continues to gain knowledge and appreciation for this national park.
As a volunteer, you can expect to:
make connections with like-minded people and other local environmental groups;
learn about the different ecosystems and identify native and invasive species that exist within the park;
gain hands-on experience with secure work methods and best practice environmental management and trail building techniques;
enjoy being active outdoors and feel positive about helping the environment;
meet local QPWS Rangers who manage these areas.
