Cooktown MPHS is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join their team on a seven-week contract from September through early November 2026. This rural generalist role spans the Emergency Department, Acute Ward, and Theatre, offering the chance to work across multiple clinical areas in a regional healthcare setting. The position is based in Cooktown, Queensland, and offers a salary range of AUD58.95 to AUD76.20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Preferred Requirements
Minimum five years of acute care nursing experience




Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
Triage qualification and demonstrated experience in emergency department settings
Acute ward nursing experience with ability to manage multiple patient presentations
Theatre skills in either anaesthetics or scrub/scout nursing

Preferred Qualifications
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
Formal qualification or demonstrated competency in emergency nursing practice
Theatre nursing qualification or equivalent perioperative experience
