Cleared Recruitment is supporting an Australian-owned technology organisation operating within the Defence and national security sector, as they continue to grow their engineering capability across Australia.
We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C/C++ skills to join a highly technical team developing advanced technology for complex operational environments.
This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects involving communications, RF technologies and embedded systems.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the development of embedded software and systems that sit at the intersection of software, electronics and communications technology.
You'll be involved in a mix of current development, integration and problem solving, with the opportunity to work across the full engineering lifecycle.
Depending on your experience, your work may include:
Developing embedded software using C and C++
Working with embedded Linux environments
Developing real-time software for communications and signal-processing applications
Integrating software with hardware and other embedded systems
Designing and implementing software interfaces and communications protocols
Debugging and optimising software running on embedded platforms
Working closely with hardware, FPGA, RF and systems engineers
Supporting integration, testing and verification
Contributing to the design and development of new technologies and prototypes
Investigating complex technical problems and developing practical solutions
About You
We're looking for engineers who enjoy working on difficult technical problems and are comfortable operating in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
You'll ideally bring:
2+ years' experience in embedded software development
Strong C/C++ programming experience
Experience working with embedded systems
Experience with Linux, ideally embedded Linux
An understanding of real-time software concepts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
RF or communications technology
Digital signal processing
Electronic Warfare
FPGA or hardware/software integration
Embedded networking and communications
ARM-based systems
Python, MATLAB or similar engineering tools
Defence or other highly regulated technology environments
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is technically curious, enjoys learning and wants to work close to the technology.

Australian citizenship is required.
