Taldumande Youth Services has been standing alongside children, young people and familiesexperiencing complex disadvantage for more than 50 years.
Our Residential Youth Justice Programs provide diversionary residential placements, intensive frontline support and coordinated casework for children and young people in contact with the youth justice system.
We are looking for a residential youth services leader who can supervise teams, strengthen practice quality, and ensure young people receive support that is protected, culturally
responsive, trauma-informed and focused on their individual goals.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Program Manager, you will supervise Residential Youth Justice Case Workers and Youth Workers and ensure the provision of professional casework and intensive support services for children and young people in residential youth justice diversionary placements.
This role combines team leadership, casework oversight, accommodation program responsibilities, stakeholder engagement, risk management and quality assurance.
You will help staff deliver consistent, respectful and person-centred practice while maintaining strong relationships with families, government agencies and community partners.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Supervise Youth Workers and Case Workers, including recruiting, induction, team meetings,supervision, timesheets and staff development
Oversee screening, assessment, case planning, support plans, service coordination,transitions and case closures
Ensure holistic assessment of young people's emotional, physical, developmental,cultural and safety needs
Support high-quality residential practice, including appropriate boundaries, saferelationships,
living skills programs and house operations
Work collaboratively with DCJ, BASS, Police, NSW Health, education providers,families and other professionals
Maintain accurate records, client files, data, risk assessments, incident reports andadministrative systems in line with TYS policies
Participate in the on-call roster and respond to emergency requests from staff and clientswhen required
Oversee housing services that form a key part of TYS's continuum of care, supportingpositive outcomes for children and young people
ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced and steady residential youth services leader who understandsthe complexity of working with children and young people in contact with theyouth justice system.
You lead with professionalism, warmth and accountability,and you know how to support staff through challenging practice situations whilekeeping young people's needs at the centre.
You will bring:
Minimum three years' experience leading and supporting a team working in youthresidential services
Sound knowledge of youth justice, homelessness, trauma-informed care, strengths-basedpractice and solution focused approaches
Experience in supervision, staff support, performance development, administration,accountability and data management processes
High-level verbal and written communication skills, with an approachable manner and theability to build positive relationships
Ability to work autonomously,
contribute to a team environment and manage varyingpriorities in a residential setting
A strong commitment to child safety, cultural safety, professional boundaries andethical practice
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services orequivalent
Current Paid Working with Children Check to be provided prior to appointment
Police Clearance Check to be provided prior to appointment
Participation in the on-call roster and availability to respond in person to emergencyrequests from staff and clients
Current First Aid Certificate and willingness to attend compulsory training
