We are a tiny home builder based in Somerville.
We are currently looking for a junior full time 1st year apprentice.
As we are a custom builder, unlike a standard apprenticeship where there is generally only a focus on a few select areas of the trade, instead with us there is a great deal of involvement in all aspects from start to finish.
with each area being held to high standards and ultimately leading to a vastly larger base of skills and competence in building from formwork all the way through to finishing in most trade areas.
We believe in working as a team, thinking outside the box and always working with those around you in mind.
This attitude will create a skill set that will enable you to work with and understand how and why each trade operates, what they need, what makes their job easier, and how to have a great foundation to be valuable in almost all situations.
What you will learn
fabrication, welding, turning and fitting
framing
flooring
insulation and water proofing
cabinetry
joinery
painting
plastering
tiling
low voltage electrical and off grid systems
cladding
roof plumbing
how to install doors and windows
design
finishing
plumbing




You will also learn how to read and interpret
architectural drawings
structural drawings
wiring diagrams
circuit diagrams
bracing diagrams
permits and plans
What we are looking for is
someone with a great interest in how things are made
someone who has pride in what they do
someone with the ability to maneuver between tasks that can be completely different from one another
As we operate from the same location every day, we require someone with the ability to travel to our factory.
There is also no expectations of traveling to any different sites and locations, on the rare occasion the option will be given but this is generally a team effort travelling together for the day to do an onsite set up.
We operate in an setting of mutual respect, and treat everyone from top to bottom in the same manner.
This requires each person to always operate from a perspective of what they can do to help those around them have an easier day.
