An established and growing Australian services business is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join its finance team.
This is an prospect for a commercially minded accountant to take a hands‐on role across management reporting, financial analysis, budgeting and operational performance.
The business operates in a fast‐paced, people‐intensive environment where accurate financial information and strong commercial insight are critical to decision-making.
Reporting to a senior finance leader, you will work closely with operational and commercial teams to provide meaningful financial analysis and help improve business performance.
You will have exposure to a broad range of financial and operational matters, including workforce costs, customer profitability, margins, forecasting and process improvement.
Key responsibilities
Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and variance analysis
Analyse revenue, costs, margins and business performance
Monitor workforce-related costs and profitability
Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
Reconcile payroll, timesheets, invoicing and associated costs
Analyse pay rates, overtime, allowances, utilisation and other workforce trends
Support month-end and year-end financial processes
Prepare customer and business-unit profitability analysis
Develop and maintain financial reports, KPI dashboards and management information
Assist with audit, statutory reporting and compliance requirements
About you
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
At least 5-8 years' experience in management accounting or a similar commercial finance role
Experience in a people-intensive or operationally complex industry
Strong understanding of payroll costing and workforce-related financial analysis
Advanced Excel skills
Experience working with accounting, payroll or ERP systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent attention to detail
Solid communication and stakeholder-management skills
The ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment
Desirable Experience
Experience with one or more of the following would be advantageous:
Workforce, staffing, professional services, logistics, construction, healthcare or other high-volume operational environments
Australian employment awards and workforce cost structures
ERP or accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, SAP, Oracle, Pronto or similar
Power BI
Financial modelling and business intelligence
Process improvement and finance automation
