About the role
We are seeking a Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at STT Mechanical in Plainland, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your mechanical expertise in a supportive and qualified workshop environment. As a Light Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair work on light vehicles, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard and in compliance with safety regulations. This role is integral to our operations and directly impacts customer satisfaction and safety.
Key responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and tyre services
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools
Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and exhaust systems
Conduct vehicle inspections and provide accurate assessments of repair requirements
Maintain detailed records of all work completed and parts used
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations at all times
Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair requirements and vehicle status
Keep the workshop clean, organised, and properly maintained
Maintain and care for tools and equipment in accordance with company procedures
What we're looking for
Relevant qualification in automotive mechanics or equivalent practical experience as a light vehicle mechanic
Proven experience working on light vehicles including cars, utes, and SUVs
Strong understanding of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and suspension
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and modern workshop tools
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and service schedules
Valid driver's licence
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Good communication and customer service skills
Reliability and punctuality
Current First Aid certification (preferred)
Experience with computerised service systems (preferred)
