The Opportunity
McArthur is seeking an experienced and community minded Kitchen Officer to join a well established community centre in Hobart.
This is a casual position of 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, offering flexibility within a community focused environment.
This is a hands-on role overseeing day to day kitchen operations, coordinating volunteers and supporting the delivery of dining programs, catering, workshops and community events.
You'll work closely with the Centre Coordinator and play an important role in creating a welcoming workplace for the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate day to day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking and catering.
Roster and supervise volunteer cooks, kitchen hands and waiting staff.
Develop menus and manage kitchen stock,



ordering and supplies within budget.
Coordinate catering for workshops, events and community programs.
Ensure food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements are maintained.
Monitor kitchen equipment, maintenance and replacement needs.
Support and engage positively with older people and community members.
Work closely with the Centre Coordinator to support community and positive ageing programs.
Our Successful Candidate Will Have
Experience working in a commercial or community kitchen, including catering for larger groups.
Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
A relevant Certificate-level qualification and/or practical kitchen management experience.
Current Food Safety Supervisor and DoFoodSafety certificates.
Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).
Current Driver Licence.
A genuine interest in working with older people and within a community-focused environment.
