The Family Support Worker responds to particular issues concerning parents and families in the community by providing information, resources and support to family members, practical assistance and referral to and from relevant agencies and services. Family Support improves the stability, confidence and competence of parents to care for their children and ensure their well-being and safety.
Key responsibilities
Respond to the particular issues concerning parents and families in the community by providing information, resources and support to family members, practical assistance and referral to and from relevant agencies and services
Maintain and develop a clear referral process to support active meaningful referrals both to the program and from the program
Participate as a member of the community team in the delivery of well-planned services to clients
Maintain accurate records and statistics as per service contract specifications
Maintain the rights of the client to privacy and confidentiality
Support the Emergency Relief program including interviewing of applicants and distribution of vouchers, food etc. and maintain data collection of Emergency Relief program
Collect and record data as relevant to the requirements of the current service agreement with the relevant Queensland Government contract and undertake reporting through the appropriate portal
Liaise with services, community groups and government agencies to develop referral pathways and support best practice outcomes for clients
Attend and participate in staff meetings, strategic planning and any other collaborative activities as required
Ensure compliance with all Privacy Legislation and treat all information of a personal and sensitive nature concerning the business of the organisation and its clients in a professional and confidential manner
About you
Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience working with vulnerable families and other groups in the community
Demonstrated good written and organisational skills including ability to record case notes, data collection/reporting and time management
High level verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with a diverse range of people, groups and organisations
Knowledge of or the ability to rapidly gain knowledge about the local Tara community
A current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card is a mandatory employment requirement
A positive manner demonstrating initiative, resourcefulness and flexibility to adapt to change is essential

The centre also provides auspice arrangements for Tara Crafters, Tara Music Group and Tara Creates.
