You will join a major greenfield Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) project as a Project Engineer, providing mechanical engineering expertise across the delivery of critical dewatering and decant systems. You will work closely with the Project Manager, design consultants, operations and contractors to ensure systems are technically sound, constructable and aligned with operational requirements.
You will build on the current feasibility-level dewatering design, supporting optimisation across staging, production requirements, construction methodology, cost and schedule. Your experience with dewatering, piping and tailings infrastructure will be critical in progressing the project through design and construction while maintaining a solid focus on safety, quality and delivery.
You will initially be based in Brisbane on a 5/2 roster, transitioning to a 14/7 FIFO roster from November as the project moves to site. Accommodation will be provided for candidates who are not Brisbane-based while working from the Brisbane project office.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical engineering delivery of dewatering and decant systems
Develop and review designs, drawings, specifications and calculations
Coordinate technical approvals, design changes and engineering deliverables
Provide engineering support through construction and commissioning
Monitor technical, cost, schedule and quality risks across the package
Work closely with contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary teams
Resolve technical issues and elevate key risks when required
Support safe, practical and constructable project outcomes
About you
Project Engineer - Mechanical background is highly preferred
Highly experienced working with tailings dams and TSF infrastructure
Strong experience with dewatering systems and slurry pumping
Proven experience delivering major CAPEX projects
Operational experience within mining or processing environments
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pumps and piping
Confident establishing procedures, processes and engineering standards
Proven capability working across design, construction and commissioning
Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills
Practical, collaborative approach to solving complex project challenges
Confident communicator who can challenge issues and drive outcomes
