Role Status: Full-time ongoing position Remuneration: AHP2 ($94,997 - $110,052) plus 12% superannuation Role Details: This position is only open to applicants of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent pursuant to Section 56 (2) of the Equal Opportunity Act, ****.
As an Aboriginal High Risk Infant Worker (AHP2), following a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) rosterof 8 days on, and 6 days off, you will work across Coober Pedy and the APY Lands to provide culturally informed support to Aboriginal families.
This role focuses on the early developmental years of a child and acknowledges the importance of family and kinship in strengthening the identity of Aboriginal children.
You will empower the healthy identities of Aboriginal infants and their families through specialist assessment and advocacy.
Your professional advice will create an environment of safety and stability, as you liaise with communities to transform the lives of vulnerable members of our society.

Desirable Qualifications: A degree level qualification in Social Work, which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
In this role, you will:
Oversee culturally informed assessments of Aboriginal infants and their families Enact specialist cultural recommendations to inform child protection decision-making Organise case meetings with Aboriginal families to resolve issues adhering to cultural appropriate models and expert knowledge Educate DCP Workers on practical issues surrounding high risk and unborn infants Administer culturally responsive services that promote independence and collaboration within the Aboriginal community.
About you: You possess exemplary knowledge of infant, child and adolescent development You understand nuanced social, cultural and historical influences that affect Aboriginal people You can effectively empower families through strengths-based engagement You have specialised knowledge of Aboriginal kinship systems and intergenerational trauma You can competently liaise and mentor less experienced practitioners.
Salary: AHP2: $94,997 - $110,052 + 12% super +4% child protection allowance +Regional financial incentive +Professional Development Allowance +Qualification Allowance may apply if you hold an additional qualification relevant to the role.
AHP2 positions are also entitled to claim reimbursement of eligible professional development expenses through the Professional Development Allowance.
