Programmed Maintenance Services – Newcastle NSW
As the Facilities Manager, you will coordinate facilities and maintenance activities across a diverse portfolio of operational sites, including:
Workshops
Welding bays
Truck bases
Vehicle and equipment yards
Operational work areas
Offices and meeting facilities
Rest-house accommodation
Supporting property infrastructure
This is not a traditional office-based Facilities Manager position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being hands-on, visible and actively engaged across practical, industrial and operational environments.
You will work closely with Site Managers, Area Managers, contractors, tradespeople and other stakeholders to ensure facilities are maintained safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate planned and preventative maintenance activities
Manage reactive and corrective maintenance requirements
Issue, monitor and follow up maintenance work orders
Engage, coordinate and manage contractors and trades
Monitor completion of scheduled maintenance activities
Follow up outstanding maintenance and corrective actions
Liaise with Site Managers, Area Managers and operational stakeholders
Build and maintain strong contractor relationships
Act as an escalation point for facilities-related issues
Review upcoming maintenance requirements and plan works in advance
Assist with warranty, supplier and contractor issues
Support the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance activities
Undertake mandatory regional travel as required
Undertake interstate travel from time to time
Maintain a robust focus on safety, compliance and quality
About You
We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager who brings a practical and hands-on approach to facilities and maintenance management.
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:
Facilities Management
Maintenance Management
Building or Property Maintenance
Trade Supervision
Maintenance Coordination
Asset Maintenance
Transport Infrastructure
Rail
Construction
Government
Blue-collar operational environments
A trade background would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
What We're Looking For
Strong practical facilities and maintenance knowledge
Demonstrated experience managing contractors and trades
Experience coordinating planned and reactive maintenance
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Excellent safety awareness
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes
Confidence managing competing priorities
Professional judgement and accountability
Ability to build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and contractors
Willingness and ability to undertake mandatory regional travel
Availability to travel for approximately
1-3 days per month
Willingness and ability to undertake interstate travel from time to time
Ability to work effectively across operational and corporate environments
Experience with CMMS,
SAP or similar maintenance management systems would be beneficial; however, advanced systems experience is not essential, with training available on internal systems and processes.
Working Arrangements
The role offers a degree of flexibility, including:
Flexible start and finish times
Work-from-home flexibility
Mandatory regional travel
Typically 1-3 days of travel per month
Interstate travel required from time to time
Travel to regional and remote locations as operationally required
Candidates must be comfortable with travel as an essential requirement of the position.
This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity with the potential for longer-term or permanent employment depending on performance, suitability and ongoing business requirements.
