The Opportunity We are currently partnering with a large Queensland Government department to recruit an experienced Senior Management Accountant (AO6) for an initial contract opportunity.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting services that support strategic decision-making.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join a collaborative team and contribute to meaningful outcomes within a complex government environment.
Key Responsibilities Deliver accurate and timely financial management reporting, analysis and financial advice.
Monitor financial performance against budgets and targets, identifying risks and providing recommendations to improve outcomes.
Prepare monthly and ad-hoc management reports, reconciliations, forecasting, budget revisions and financial analysis.
Assist in the preparation of the annual State Budget, including Budget Papers, Annual Reports, Budget Submissions and briefing materials.
Support the development and continuous improvement of financial management policies, processes and reporting frameworks.
Ensure budget allocations and revisions are accurately maintained and reconciled within the budget management system.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, Queensland Treasury and external service providers.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and provide financial analysis and support across a range of projects.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
CPA or CA qualification, or equivalent professional membership such as IPA/MIPA, is highly desirable.
Previous Queensland Government or broader public sector finance experience will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated experience across management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting within a complex organisation.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide practical recommendations.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organisation.
Experience preparing executive-level reports, briefings, presentations and financial correspondence.
A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
