Position Overview The Heavy Vehicle Assembler is responsible for building high-quality, bespoke road tankers.
The role involves mounting specialized aluminium and stainless-steel barrels onto truck chassis, routing complex pneumatic lines, and integrating fluid-handling components.
You will work alongside a skilled workshop team of boilermakers, welders, and fitters to deliver premium, reliable transport solutions.
Job Details Location: Sunshine West, VIC **** Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Department: Workshop Operations / Production Line Key Responsibilities Structural Assembly: Mount, align, and secure lightweight tank barrels onto rigid truck chassis and specialized trailers.
Component Integration: Install fluid transfer systems, high-pressure discharge piping, manifolds, pumps, and vapor recovery systems.
Systems Fitting: Route and connect essential pneumatic air lines, brake systems, and complex electrical wiring harnesses.
Blueprints Schematics: Read and accurately interpret technical manufacturing drawings, engineering blueprints, and fluid layout schematics.
Quality Testing:



Perform rigorous pressure, vacuum, and leak tests on completed tanks and plumbing lines to meet Australian dangerous goods standards.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate overhead workshop cranes, hoists, air tools, and calibrated torque wrenches.
Skills and Experience Proven experience in heavy vehicle assembly, trailer building, diesel mechanics, or mechanical fitting.
Solid technical background with high-level proficiency in reading engineering diagrams.
High attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining precise craftsmanship.
Demonstrated ability to work safely in a fast-paced heavy manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Automotive/Diesel Mechanics, or Fitting and Turning is highly regarded.
High Risk Work Licence for Overhead Cranes or Forklifts is highly preferred.
Experience or understanding of AS **** standards (transportation of dangerous goods) is an advantage.
