About the Role As our Senior Tax Manager, you will be the senior tax authority within our Fund Services business, providing expert technical oversight across our fund administration and reporting activities.
You will take ownership of the review and sign-off for key tax deliverable, including distributions, attribution, BAS, GST, RITC and the tax implications of corporate actions, ensuring they are accurate, compliant and aligned with Australian managed funds tax requirements.
Working closely with clients, trustee's ad their tax agents, you will provide the in-house expertise,
policy guidance and structuring insight that supports high-quality outcomes.
This is a senior, hands on technical role where you will personally provide tax expertise and review, with the opportunity to help shape and grow the function over time.
Key responsibilities include Providing senior tax expertise across the fund services book, ensuring compliance with tax policy and managed funds tax law.
Owning and maintaining tax policy, keeping it current with legislative change, ATO guidance and industry best practice, and advise leadership and teams on tax risk and emerging developments.
Responsible for review, sign off and provide oversight of tax-related functions delivered by the team – distributions, AMIT/AMMA components, BAS, GST and RITC.
Providing independent quality assurance over tax calculations and work papers and support reasonableness testing and period-end tax review.
Advising on the tax impact of corporate actions, including cost-base adjustments and CGT parcel outcomes.
Providing structure and insight on distribution components, withholding tax (MIT/non-resident) and attribution, and provide technical input to onboarding and new fund structures.
Managing tax risk, controls and governance,
including the tax risk register.
Coordinating with clients' trustees and appointed tax agents to obtain final sign-off on tax reports, and support audits, ATO engagement and regulatory tax matters.
About you!
You'll bring: Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Law; CA/CPA and/or CTA qualified Extensive tax experience in managed funds/financial services, in practice or industry A deep knowledge of the MIT/AMIT regime, Division 6/6C, trust distribution mechanics and withholding tax, including experience reviewing and signing off fund distributions, BAS, GST and RITC Authoritative technical tax judgement, with strong review and quality-assurance discipline The ability to engage confidently with trustees, tax agents and leadership teams The ability to translate technical tax into practical, commercial guidance and client outcomes Why join Automic: You'll be part of a team where operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement are genuinely valued.
