Qualified Diesel Mechanic / Licensed Vehicle Inspector About the Role We are seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team.
This is a hands-on role responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide range of diesel vehicles and equipment while ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards.
As part of this position, the successful applicant must hold the appropriate qualifications and licensing to inspect vehicles and approve them as roadworthy in accordance with relevant state regulations.
Key Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on diesel vehicles and equipment.
Perform servicing, maintenance and repairs to manufacturer specifications.
Conduct roadworthy inspections and determine vehicle compliance with applicable legislation.
Approve and certify vehicles for return to service where authorised.
Complete inspection reports and maintenance documentation accurately.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with workplace policies and industry standards.
Work collaboratively with workshop staff to maintain high productivity and quality workmanship.
Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, safe work environment.
Essential Requirements Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
Current licence or accreditation to conduct roadworthy inspections and approve vehicles for road use (as required by the relevant state or territory).
Demonstrated experience working on heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or commercial fleets.
Solid diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Ability to interpret technical manuals and repair documentation.
Current driver's licence (HR or HC licence desirable).
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
Desirable Experience with fleet maintenance systems.
Air conditioning accreditation.
Heavy vehicle inspection experience.
Forklift licence and/or other relevant tickets.
