As part of the Casualty Treaty team you will be providing technical support complementing our client management and broader Non-Life initiatives.
You will apply strong technical skills and knowledge of the exposed risks and implement the most appropriate underwriting approach.
This role supports new business opportunities and strengthens existing client relationships, in conjunction with the client management team, by understanding the client's needs and translating the risk into value.
Your Role
Determine the optimal approach for risk assessment and pricing of complex accounts by using underwriting knowledge and expertise across the whole end to end process
Develop recent pricing methods where required
Present solutions for complex issues (client requests and internal projects)
Instigate and support new product innovation and enhancement both within the MR Group and with the client base.
Take responsibility of data quality in underwriting platforms of nominated accounts and the Casualty Treaty portfolio to enable adequate reporting and monitoring activities
Strengthen existing client relationships and develop new ones to achieve expected growth and profit contribution in conjunction with the Client Management team.
Take responsibility for the principal contact point of nominated clients.
Develop and maintain market profile and visibility as an expert in the industry.
Participate on Munich Re group wide projects/ initiatives.
Provide technical guidance to the team on both pricing and risk assessment:
Be able to identify UW gaps, compliance with handling of UW guidelines and local instructions
Provide constructive feedback to Treaty members on technical areas for improvement.
Be able to successfully review work of team members without re-underwriting it
Support the Casualty Treaty Manager in:
preparing and implementing Underwriting strategies for the treaty portfolio, and communicating these to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders
Identifying and propose areas of improvement to enhance portfolio and risk management processes
Identifying skill gaps and provide technical training for Casualty Treaty Underwriters
Identifying market weaknesses and take action to provide solutions
Accept responsibilities delegated by the Casualty Treaty manager in the manager's absence
Excellent communication and influencing skills targeted and adaptable to the audience and situation
Serving as a credible role model through their performance and behaviour, and being measured by that performance
Your Profile
Experience at senior underwriter level in reinsurance, demonstrating excellent understanding of the risk exposure and appropriate methodology to assess the exposure.
10 years+ of experience as a Casualty Treaty Underwriter is preferred.
Tertiary qualifications in related area (preferred)
Strong analytical skill set.
Excellent interpersonal and effective organisational skills.
ANZIIF membership (preferred) or equivalent.
