The Role Waroona DHS is ideally seeking an innovative, highly motivated and dedicated Secondary Deputy Principal who is committed to excellence in teaching and improving student outcomes.
To be considered for a leadership position at Waroona DHS, the successful applicant should display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach and mentor staff and lead change management processes that drive whole-school improvement within a K-10 context.
While the role has a strong secondary leadership focus, the successful applicant will also play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the whole school as a member of the executive team.
As such, experience leading and holding key whole-school portfolios within a K-10 context is highly desirable.
Applicants who are instructional leaders with a deep understanding of evidence-based, high-impact teaching practices, and who are highly data literate and able to lead school-wide data processes and continuous improvement cycles will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant would play a key role in further developing our instructional coaching model, working alongside staff to build capacity and ensure a consistent, evidence-based approach to instruction in every classroom.
Strengths in student engagement, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and restorative practices are also important to this role, and applicants who display these capabilities will be highly regarded.
The ability to lead intervention and case management of complex student behaviour, together with knowledge of trauma-informed practice, is highly desirable.
An understanding of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework would be advantageous, as would experience in the case management of disability-resourced students and the implementation of targeted small-group tuition programs.
An ability to coordinate whole-school curriculum management and student reporting processes is desirable, and it would be advantageous to have knowledge of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and endorsed programs.
The successful applicant should be team-oriented, with outstanding interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school (K-10), including behaviour management, would be an important aspect of this role.
