The role:
The Decoration Assistant is responsible for the accurate, timely, and high-quality decoration of garments in line with customer specifications and Hip Pocket brand standards.
This role ensures that all embroidery, heat press, and related decoration tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to a professional standard.
By maintaining strong quality control, reliable production processes, and well-maintained equipment, the Decoration Assistant directly contributes to customer satisfaction, repeat business, and store reputation.
The role also encompasses receiving and allocating supplier stock deliveries.
Key responsibilities:
Garment Decoration & Production
Accurately prepare and decorate garments in accordance with approved artwork, customer specifications, and production schedules.
Set up recent decoration jobs where required, including artwork placement, sizing, alignment, and test approvals.
Ensure all garments are decorated to a high standard of finish, with consistent positioning and quality.




Monitor lead times and prioritise tasks to meet agreed customer delivery deadlines.
Ensure incorrect garments are not decorated by verifying order details prior to production.
Quality Control
Conduct quality checks throughout the decoration process to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Inspect completed garments prior to dispatch or customer collection to confirm they meet quality and branding standards.
Identify and rectify errors before goods leave the store.
Communicate any decoration issues, artwork discrepancies, or production concerns promptly to relevant staff.
Order Preparation & Dispatch
Pack decorated garments to customer requirements and presentation standards
Label and prepare completed orders for dispatch or collection
Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders, arranging courier/delivery as needed
Verify orders and process invoices accurately prior to dispatch
Coordinate with the sales, retail, and decoration teams on order readiness, special instructions, and timely completion
Equipment Maintenance & Operational Standards
Operate decoration equipment (e.g. embroidery machines, heat presses, etc.) safely and competently.
Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on machinery.
Ensure all machinery is kept in peak operational condition to minimise downtime.
Report machinery faults,



performance issues, or maintenance requirements promptly.
Follow safe handling procedures when using equipment and materials.
Stock Receiving & Processing
Receive and sign for incoming deliveries per company procedure
Unpack and check goods against invoices/purchase orders; report short deliveries, damage, or discrepancies
Prioritise and organise deliveries in order of receipt
Accurately record incoming stock in inventory systems
Sort stock into correct storage locations or allocate to customer orders, decoration, screen print, alterations, or other processing areas
Maintain an organised, clean, efficient warehouse
Assist with stocktakes and inventory audits; report discrepancies and advise on low/excess stock
Safety & Compliance
Follow all Hip Pocket policies, procedures, and brand standards.
Maintain safe work practices at all times, including correct handling of stock and equipment.
Promote safety awareness when assisting customers with PPE and workwear selection.
Team Contribution
Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth store operations.
Support trade shows, local marketing activities, and training sessions when required.
Demonstrate flexibility to assist in different store tasks as needed.
