About the Role
The Workshop Fitter is responsible for carrying out mechanical fitting, assembly, repair, and maintenance on new build and used underground mining equipment.
The role requires adherence to safety, quality, and production standards, while ensuring that build documentation is accurate.
The Workshop Fitter supports the Leading Hand by delivering high-quality workmanship, maintaining organised work areas, and contributing to a protected and efficient workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform fitting, assembly and repair tasks on new build and used underground mining equipment to specifications and drawings
Review job instructions, drawings and procedures to ensure correct tooling, equipment and parts available
Complete build and job-related documentation; checklists, inspection reports and time entries
Work to required tolerances and quality standards, raising any defects, non-conformances or design concerns
Follow WHS procedures and standards,



participate in risk assessments and report hazards or incidents
Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area including proper care and storage of tools and equipment
Safely operate workshop machinery, tools and lifting equipment in accordance with training and procedures
What We're Looking For
Recognised trade certificate
2 years post trade experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Knowledge of workshop safety procedures and safe work practices
Competent use of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment
Mobile equipment hydraulic and pneumatic system experience including diagnosing and troubleshooting
HR work license in Fork Truck, Dogging, Intermediate Rigging
Experience with underground mining equipment
Overhead crane competency RIIHAN305D
ExDES skill set course RIISS***** set of competencies
