About Us
Pilbara Community Legal Service (PCLS) operates in regional offices in Karratha, Roebourne, South Hedland, and Newman.
We provide a broad range of services to support individuals, families, and communities across the Pilbara, including:
Legal Services
Financial Counselling
Tenant Advice and Education Services

About the Opportunity:
The Advocate for Family and Domestic Violence plays a crucial role in supporting individuals affected by domestic violence in Karratha, Western Australia.
This position is a part-time ****** hours per week) fixed-term contract until 30 June ****, it involves providing advocacy, support, and resources to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting awareness and education within the community.
As a contract role, the Advocate will work full-time to make a significant impact in the lives of those experiencing family and domestic violence.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct support and advocacy for individuals affected by family and domestic violence.
Conduct assessments to identify client needs and develop tailored support plans.
Facilitate access to legal, medical, and social services for clients.
Educate the community on issues related to family and domestic violence.
Collaborate with local agencies and organisations to enhance support services.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organisational policies.
Participate in training and professional development to stay informed on best practices.

Essential Criteria:
Certificate IV (minimum) and/or experience in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work or other relevant field.
Experience in advocacy or support roles, particularly in family and domestic violence.
Strong understanding of the legal and social frameworks surrounding domestic violence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated empathy and sensitivity towards clients in crisis situations.
Proficient in using computer systems for record-keeping and reporting.
Ability to travel across the Pilbara, including overnight stay.
Working rights within Australia
Current Australia Driver's License, Class 3.
Police Clearance and Working with Children Check required.
