Since expanding into the Mining Sector in ****, AVS has continued to grow across remote Australian locations, and we're looking for motivated and reliable team members who want to grow with us.
Our teams play an important role in maintaining high-quality village environments and supporting the day-to-day experience of residents.
From hospitality and housekeeping to maintenance and village operations, we work together to deliver safe, professional and welcoming spaces across our remote sites.
The Roles:
We are currently seeking expression of interests for a suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated
Handyman
looking for
Full-Time
employment working at one of our Mining Villages in
Broome!
This is 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off roster.
Overview
:
A practical, hands-on qualified responsible for carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs across the mining village.
The role supports the safe, tidy, and functional operation of village buildings, rooms, and common areas.
Works collaboratively with site management, utilities, and contractors to ensure a well-maintained environment for residents and staff.
Role Requirements
Experience working in remote or FIFO mining villages
Comfortable working independently and with minimal supervision
Able to manage a daily job list while maintaining responsiveness to urgent issues




Known for a proactive attitude and attention to safety and detail
WA Driver's Licence (C Class)
Construction White Card
Basic Handyman/Maintenance Certificate (if held)
First Aid & CPR
Forklift Ticket
Duties & Responsibilities:
Performing general maintenance and basic repair tasks such as fixing door handles, hinges, latches, light fittings, minor leaks, and touch-up painting
Patching holes in walls, replacing tiles, securing loose fixtures, and completing small surface repairs as required
Conducting routine inspections of guest rooms, communal areas, and facilities to identify signs of damage, wear, or safety issues
Replacing items such as light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, taps, and shower heads as part of preventative upkeep
Clearing leaves, debris, and rubbish from external areas including walkways, verandas, and car parks
Performing minor outdoor maintenance such as pressure washing surfaces, adjusting gates, and repairing fences
Completing assigned work orders using maintenance systems like MEX or similar platforms
Escalating complex or licensed tasks to qualified trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers)
Safely using hand and power tools including drills, screwdrivers, and saws




Maintaining a clean and orderly workshop and ensuring tools are in good working condition
Responding promptly and professionally to maintenance requests from staff and guests
Coordinating access to rooms and facilities when carrying out maintenance work
Working independently with minimal supervision while managing a daily job list and responding to urgent issues as they arise
Demonstrating a proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a consistent commitment to safety in all tasks
