About the role
The Kidney Research Alliance Officer will help to drive the kidney research agenda across Australia.
The primary duty of the position is to support the KRA steering committee in developing the Alliance, drafting its strategic plan, forming research partnerships and assisting with growing funding for kidney research in Australia.
The location for this 0.6FTE (negotiable) role is flexible.
We are open to considering locations within Australia for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
Facilitate the KRA steering committees' development of a Strategic Plan and associated workplan
Be responsible for the implementation of the annual KRA workplan and collaborate with steering committee members to achieve progress against the strategic plan
Complete quarterly reports on KRA activity for KHA and ANZSN
Coordinate the meetings, minutes and completion of action items for the KRA steering committee and any subsequent working groups or sub-committees that are formed
Develop, prepare and submit grant funding requests with the support of the KRA steering committee and manage and maintain relationships with funding sources
Build strong relationships across the research sector and foster collaboration in kidney research
Prepare impact reports and make recommendations for future work scope and opportunities for the KRA
Write funding applications (including philanthropic and government grants) to seek funding for the KRA research priorities
Coordinate all aspects of the KRA research program including funding grants, communications to research teams, grant reporting requirements, and regular communication with both KHA and ANZSN
Maintain strong relationships with researchers, research organisations and research funders
About you




Tertiary qualifications in medical research or other relevant tertiary qualification together with experience working in the Australian research sector
Demonstrated experience in managing high level projects and initiatives from conception through to reporting
Demonstrated experience in project management in health, sciences, or research setting
Experience in writing government and philanthropic grant submissions
Knowledge of the Australian research landscape, processes and systems used to allocate research funding
Proven organisational and time-management skills with demonstrated high attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills that demonstrate an ability to prepare briefings, reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner
Solid problem-solving skills
Intermediate to high level of computer skills in Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Dynamics 365, Zoom & Zoom webinars, Teams
A commitment to evidence-based practice and knowledge of research principles
What's on offer?
Tenure: Initial 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.
Start Date: Available immediately
Hours of Work: 0.6 FTE Negotiable
This role will sit within Alliance partner Kidney Health Australia and offers a flexibility in location and workplace.
Ideally, the role would be located at Kidney Health Australia's offices in Adelaide or Southbank, Melbourne.
However, for the right candidate, we will consider locations Australia wide.

KRA spans the broad spectrum of the kidney research sector, ranging from discovery science through to clinical practice and research translation and implementation.
Purpose:
Increase strategic investment, foster cross collaboration, promote discovery and translate emerging research into real world outcomes in Nephrology
We will do this by:
Collaborating broadly with research organisations, researchers, the health community, and people with lived experience, and use data, evidence and research to drive improvements in kidney health.
Our Goals:
(1) Grow investment in kidney health research in Australia
(2) Develop and prosecute Australian research priorities aligned to the areas of greatest need and impact on kidney health
(3) Collaborate with Australian and international research institutions, individual researchers and people with lived experience to collectively be a unified voice on kidney health research.
