Fabricators / Welders – Afternoon & Night Shift

About Our Client
Our client is a proudly Australian-owned and operated manufacturer specialising in sheet metal.
They provide high-quality, locally manufactured solutions to customers across a range of industries.
With increased production requirements, our client is currently looking for
four experienced Fabricators / Welders
to join their manufacturing operation in
Queanbeyan, NSW
.
The available positions are:
2 × Afternoon Shift
– Monday to Friday,
1:30pm – 10:00pm
$*****/hr base + 15% shift loading =
$*****/hr
2 × Night Shift
– Sunday to Thursday,
10:00pm – 6:00am
$*****/hr base + 30% shift loading =
$*****/hr
Shift allowances apply from commencement of employment.
Important information for Night Shift applicants:
The Night Shift is expected to eventually consolidate into either Day or Afternoon Shift as our client establishes a second production line.
The timing is yet to be confirmed, however the second production line is currently anticipated to commence around mid-October to early November.
Night Shift employees will be redeployed to suitable roles across these areas as the new production line becomes operational.
About the Role
This is a hands-on fabrication and welding position where you will contribute directly to daily production while ensuring quality, safety and production targets are achieved.
Working as part of an experienced manufacturing team,
you will be responsible for producing fabricated components accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Your responsibilities will include:
MIG and TIG welding of large and small fabricated components
Reading, interpreting and working from supplied drawings
Fabricating components accurately to specified drawings and tolerances
Using measuring equipment including Vernier calipers, squares, tape measures and protractors
Correctly setting welding equipment for the work being performed
Grinding, sanding and finishing fabricated components
Removing weld spatter and debris and preparing metalwork for powder coating
Operating fabrication equipment, including turret punches and press brakes, where appropriately skilled
Monitoring the quality of your own work throughout the production process
Working to daily production schedules and targets
Identifying and communicating production, supply or quality issues
Working collaboratively across different areas of the factory when required
Participating in toolbox meetings and contributing to continuous improvement
Following all WHS procedures and maintaining a safe working environment
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated fabrication and welding experience and be comfortable working in a production environment.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Proven
MIG and TIG welding experience
Previous fabrication experience within a manufacturing or production environment
Ability to confidently read and interpret technical drawings
Strong measuring skills and the ability to work accurately within required tolerances
Ability to produce consistent, high-quality positional welds,
including in restricted, non-confined spaces
Strong commitment to quality and workplace safety
Good problem-solving skills
Reliability and a strong attendance record
Ability to take accountability for the quality of your work
Willingness to raise production or quality issues when identified
Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and multicultural team
Flexibility and willingness to assist across different areas of production when required
Physical Requirements
As this is a hands-on fabrication role, applicants must have the physical capacity to:
Lift up to
20kg
using correct manual-handling techniques
Safely manoeuvre and manipulate components during the fabrication process
Perform welding and fabrication duties requiring full-body movement
Work comfortably within a production welding environment
Perform positional welding in restricted, non-confined spaces
Applicants must also be willing to undertake a
pre-employment fitness assessment

What's on Offer
Afternoon Shift: $*****/hr
including 15% shift loading
Night Shift: $*****/hr
including 30% shift loading
Shift loading applies
from commencement
4 positions available – 2 Afternoon and 2 Night
