The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West, Great South, Upper wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia.
SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including: GP Clinics, Primary Health Care, Counselling, NDIS and community host various programs.
SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This position is designated under Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act **** (WA), and as such, only Aboriginal people are eligible to apply.
We are currently recruiting for a Casual Community Support Worker to join our growing team, based in Mandurah.
Shifts will vary but will include working day shifts from Monday to Friday and no weekend or evening work is required.
The Community Support Worker provides personal care to clients in home and within community settings.
Responsibilities include assisting clients in group and individual social support settings, domestic assistance where required, transport and a variety of other duties including basic administration duties.
The Community Support Workers provide a key link between clients, service providers and specialists with respect to appointments, transport, referrals and advocacy.
Specific requirements of this position include but are not limited to;
Essential Criteria
Aged Care experience lived experience caring for elderly or passionate kind and dedicated person.
Must reside in Mandurah or within the Mandurah region and have local knowledge about the community.
Ability to take direction, determine priorities and manage workloads in order to meet agreed timelines and objectives.
Proficient interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.




Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently with minimal supervision.
Must hold a valid WA drivers' licence
Must undertake an NDIS workers screening check
Must be able to pass an Alcohol and Drug test and able to supply a National Police Clearance no older than 6 months.
If the successful candidate doesn't hold a current Police Clearance SWAMS will organise one.
Desirable Criteria
A certificate or tertiary qualification in Community Services, Aged Care or similar field.
Current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services, Occupational Safety and Health and how these impact on employment and service delivery.
