Resident Medical OfficerTeesdale Medical CentreLocation: Teesdale, VictoriaEmployment Type: Full-Time - 38 hours per weekSalary: $105,000 - $120,000 per annum + superannuationAbout the PositionTeesdale Medical Centre is seeking a suitably qualified Resident Medical Officer (RMO) to join our medical team on a full-time basis.The Resident Medical Officer will provide medical care to patients under the clinical supervision and guidance of experienced General Practitioners.
The position will involve assessing patients, assisting with diagnosis and treatment, monitoring clinical progress and contributing to the ongoing management of patients presenting with a range of acute and chronic medical conditions.The successful applicant will work collaboratively with supervising General Practitioners, nursing staff, allied health professionals and other healthcare providers to ensure safe, effective and coordinated patient care.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesConduct patient consultations, obtain medical histories and perform appropriate physical examinations under the clinical supervision of senior General Practitioners.Assess patients presenting with illnesses, injuries and other medical conditions and discuss clinical findings and management requirements with supervising medical practitioners where required.Assist in the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients in accordance with the practitioner's level of registration, authorised scope of practice and applicable supervision requirements.Request and review appropriate pathology,



diagnostic imaging and other clinical investigations within the practitioner's authorised scope of practice.Develop and implement patient treatment and management plans in consultation with supervising General Practitioners and in accordance with applicable clinical supervision arrangements.Prescribe or administer medications and treatments where authorised by the practitioner's registration, scope of practice and supervision arrangements.Monitor patients' clinical progress and response to treatment and promptly escalate complex cases, clinical deterioration or matters requiring senior medical review.Assist with the management and monitoring of patients with chronic and complex medical conditions under appropriate clinical supervision.Identify patients requiring specialist or allied health assessment and assist with referrals and coordination of ongoing care.Provide patients with appropriate information and advice regarding preventative healthcare, treatment plans, medications and management of existing medical conditions.Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records, including consultation notes, assessments, investigations, treatment provided and follow-up requirements.Participate in clinical case reviews, supervision meetings,



professional development and other clinical governance activities as required.Qualifications and Registration RequirementsHold a recognised medical qualification from Australia/OverseasHold, or be eligible to obtain, appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia through AHPRA permitting the applicant to undertake the duties of the position;Meet any applicable professional, registration and supervision requirements for medical practice in Australia; andHave the clinical knowledge and competency necessary to provide safe medical care within an appropriately supervised environment.Have 1-year full-time work experience in Australia/OverseasSkills and ExperienceRelevant clinical experience in a medical or healthcare environment;Sound knowledge of general medicine, clinical assessment and patient management;Ability to recognise clinical issues requiring escalation or senior medical review;Positive clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills;Strong written and verbal communication skills;Accurate clinical documentation and record-keeping skills;Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team; andCommitment to patient safety, professional standards and evidence-based medical practice.How to ApplySuitably qualified applicants are invited to submit:A current CV/resume;Evidence of relevant medical qualifications;A cover letter outlining relevant clinical experience and suitability for the position.Teesdale Medical Centre welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates who meet the professional and registration requirements of the position.
