We are seeking an experienced AI Solution Architect with deep expertise in Data, AI/ML, Microsoft AI Foundry and Databricks to join our client AGL and lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and production-ready AI solutions. This is a six-month contract role with a potential to extend for longer based in Melbourne Docklands offices in a hybrid working environment.

This is a hands-on architecture role where you will work closely with engineering teams, platform architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into practical, executable solution designs. You will play a critical role in shaping end-to-end AI and machine learning solutions, guiding implementation decisions, and supporting delivery teams through build, integration, testing, and deployment.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategic architecture with hands-on technical leadership and is passionate about applying emerging AI technologies to solve real business challenges.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the architecture and delivery of end-to-end AI/ML solutions, from data ingestion and transformation through to deployment, monitoring, and optimisation.
- Produce detailed, engineering-ready solution designs covering architecture, integrations, APIs, data flows, security, deployment models, and operational support.
- Design and implement AI solutions using Microsoft AI Foundry, Azure AI services, Databricks, and modern data platforms.
- Architect agentic AI, RAG, LLM, and generative AI solutions, including prompt engineering and multi-agent frameworks.
- Act as the technical SME for the Azure AI ecosystem, including Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, Microsoft Fabric, and Databricks.
- Evaluate, integrate, and govern emerging AI models and technologies, balancing performance, security, scalability, and cost.
- Design AI gateway patterns, security controls, model routing, content safety mechanisms, and responsible AI guardrails.
- Partner with architects, engineers, data scientists, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to define requirements and drive successful outcomes.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, governance frameworks, security requirements, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership throughout delivery,



supporting implementation planning, risk assessment, and adoption of practical engineering approaches.

About You
You are a technically strong Architect with a proven track record delivering enterprise-scale Data and AI solutions. You have the ability to move seamlessly between strategy, architecture, and hands-on implementation while influencing technical and business stakeholders alike.
You will have

- Proven experience in Solution Architecture, Data Architecture, or a similar technical leadership role.
- Proven experience delivering AI/ML solutions in enterprise environments.
- Proven hands-on experience designing and deploying AI/ML solutions within the Microsoft Azure and Databricks ecosystem.
- Strong expertise across:

- Azure AI Foundry
- Azure OpenAI Service
- Azure ML
- Microsoft Fabric
- Databricks
- Delta Lake
- Unity Catalog
- MLflow

Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of NLP, transformer architectures, Large Language Models (LLMs), and generative AI solutions.
- Strong experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, SpaCy, and NLTK.
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, RAG implementations, agentic AI concepts, autonomous agents, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Strong data architecture background including data modelling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, integration patterns, and modern data platforms.
- Experience building detailed, engineering-ready solution designs covering security, APIs, integrations, deployment, and operational support requirements.

- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.
