Bowness Stud & Watershed Farm are seeking an experienced and competent Stud Hand to join our team for the busy thoroughbred breeding season, progressing into yearling sales preparation. This is a hands on role suited to someone who is already a confident, capable horse handler and can work safely and competently with broodmares, foals and young thoroughbreds. Duties will include: Daily care, feeding and checking of broodmares, foals and young stock Handling mares and foals during the breeding season Assisting with horse movements and breeding procedures Assisting vets and farriers Administering treatments and medications Monitoring horse health and identifying injuries or concerns Handling and educating foals, weanlings and yearlings Progressing into yearling sales preparation, including grooming, washing, hand walking, parade practice and stable duties General stud and farm duties as required Applicants must have: Strong practical horse handling skills Previous experience working with thoroughbreds,



breeding stock or young horses Confidence handling young and sometimes difficult horses Positive knowledge of general horse care and health The ability to work independently as well as part of a team A reliable, hardworking attitude and good attention to detail Excellent English speaking and listening skills A current driver’s licence and valid visa to work in Australia A minimum commitment of 4+ months is required, with preference given to applicants able to remain through the breeding and yearling preparation season.
