About the Role:

The Spatial Data Maintenance GIS Officer contributes to the maintenance and enhancement of the foundation spatial datasets that support program delivery across the Department for Environment and Water (DEW) and the broader South Australian Government, including datasets used in emergency management functions.

The position collects, edits, and processes spatial information in accordance with defined data specifications and procedures, using geospatial tools within the Department's GIS platform. Duties include undertaking routine data updates, performing versioned editing, and applying quality_assurance checks to ensure data meets required standards.

The officer also assists with other geospatial tasks and initiatives undertaken across the team and broader unit, preparing spatial data and information products, and contributing to the development of improved data maintenance processes and procedures in collaboration with other staff members.

Desirable Qualifications: An appropriate qualification in geospatial science, natural resource management or a relevant discipline is desirable.

Special Conditions:

- May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.

- You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.

- This role has been identified as a Position of Trust. The successful applicant will be required to provide a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check which must be renewed every three years before expiry. DEW will cover the cost of renewal.

- May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel, occasional overnight absences, and work outside of the normal hours of work.

A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months. This information must be supplied by all applicants who are shortlisted for interview.

Remuneration: ASO3 ($74,095 min - $78,694 max) p.a.
