A local council in the south-east are seeking an experienced Community Development Officer to join their team on a short-term contract, with the opportunity to work across community programs, engagement and place-based initiatives.

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

- Engaging with community members, including marginalised and hard-to-reach groups
- Developing, delivering and evaluating community programs, projects, activities and events
- Building strong relationships with community groups, service providers, government agencies and internal stakeholders
- Supporting volunteer programs and community leadership development
- Identifying local community needs and priorities
- Preparing reports, plans and correspondence
- Supporting community centre communications, social media and promotional activities




- Providing administrative and customer service support when required

About You To be successful, you will have:

- Relevant qualifications in Community Development, Community Services, Health Promotion or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in community development, engagement, program delivery or place-based community work
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good Microsoft Office and social media skills
- The ability to work collaboratively while also being self-motivated
