About this role

- You will shape media advice on issues that affect Victorians.
- You will work with senior leaders on sensitive and complex matters.
- You will help explain policies, programs and reforms to the public.
- You will gain broad experience across justice, law and emergency management.
- Ongoing, full-time role earning $116,413 to $140,849 per year, plus super.

What you will do

As senior adviser, media, you will provide clear media advice across the department.

You will help senior leaders respond to media issues and public interest matters.

You will:

- support senior leaders with short-term and long-term media plans.
- promote policies and initiatives through the media and answer media enquiries.
- write clear media releases, speaking notes and other communication material.
- organise media conferences and public events.
- review media coverage and provide useful advice on emerging issues.

About you

A tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations or communications is desirable. You will also need strong experience in media and public communication.

You should also have:

- proven experience managing complex media issues and media strategies.
- strong skills in giving media advice to senior leaders.
- sound knowledge of Victorian Government communication policies and processes.
- calm judgement, flexibility and strong problem-solving skills under pressure.
