Company overview
Our client is supporting a cloud provider and Defence Program. They're seeking an experienced Lead Security Assessor to provide senior cyber security architecture and engineering leadership across a large-scale Defence engagement. This role will work closely with Defence and project stakeholders to support the assessment and approval of cloud products for Defence use.
Job Description
The Lead Security Assessor is responsible for providing senior cyber security architecture and engineering leadership across the security documentation program. The role oversees the technical approach taken by the security assessment team, reviews and quality assures documentation and holds responsibility for the system security architecture underpinning cloud product deployments. Working within an embedded team, the successful candidate will engage with Defence, client and delivery partner stakeholders to ensure security artefacts meet Defence requirements and support assessment and authorisation activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide senior cyber security architecture and engineering leadership across the security documentation program.
- Design and validate system security architecture for cloud product deployments.
- Ensure all security documentation accurately reflects the approved architecture.
- Direct the scoping, planning and production of security and technical assurance documentation required for Defence assessment and authorisation processes.
- Allocate and oversee deliverables across the Senior Security Assessor team.
- Review and quality assure documentation prior to submission to client and Defence stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical, engineering and operational information into structured security documentation.
- Establish and maintain technical standards across the assessment team.
- Maintain evidence traceability and control mapping against Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM) requirements.
- Escalate architecture risks, gaps and schedule impacts to project leadership.
- Engage with client engineering, architecture, project management, CISO teams, delivery partners and Defence stakeholders.
- Provide technical direction, mentoring and review of work completed by Senior Security Assessors.
Knowledge/Skills required
- Security architecture design experience for cloud environments and hyperscale platforms.
- Strong engineering background across network architecture, cryptography, identity and access management, and cross domain solutions.
- Working knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Working knowledge of the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).
- Understanding of the Defence Assessment and Authorisation process.
- Experience leading,
directing or reviewing the work of security assessors.
- Solid stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience producing and reviewing technical assurance and security documentation.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into documentation suitable for Defence accreditation processes.
