Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Bayesian Computation to join School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science.
The Postdoctoral Fellow in Bayesian Computation will support the development of statistical methods based on Bayesian recalibration techniques using versatile transforms of surrogate models. These methods will be benchmarked on a variety of applications based on models with intractable likelihoods and computationally expensive stochastic simulators, such as large-scale agent-based models in biology, ecology, and epidemiology.
We’re offering this role as a hybrid position as part of QUT’s commitment to embracing the opportunities created by a more virtual and connected world.
About us
QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.
The School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) is a vibrant, multidisciplinary school with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of statistics, operations research and applied and computational mathematics. The mathematics discipline at QUT is ranked 3rd in Australia (ScholarGPS Lifetime ranking). There are currently 26 full-time academic staff members employed in the School, including ten Professors and five Associate Professors. The school also employs over 25 research only academic staff in full time and part time positions. Over the past five years staff of the school have held ten prestigious Australian Research Council fellowships including eight ARC Discovery Early Career fellowships and two Future fellowships.
The School hosts a node of MACSYS, an ARC Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems and is a key partner in QUT's Centre for Data Science..
What you need to succeed

2. Proven expertise in computational statistics, Bayesian statistics and/or statistical machine learning.
3. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to engage and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated track record of producing high-quality research outputs including journal articles.
5. Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research with a high degree of initiative and independence while contributing effectively and collegially as a member of a multidisciplinary and collaborative research team.
