About Us

Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 40 years. BRAMS provides comprehensive, holistic, and culturally responsive primary health care and community services to Aboriginal people living in Broome.

In addition to primary health care, BRAMS is an approved aged care and NDIS provider and delivers a range of community services that support the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people and their families. Services are designed to be person-centred, culturally safe, and responsive to the needs of individuals across the life course.

About the Role

The Primary Health Care Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, culturally safe primary health care nursing as part of BRAMS' multidisciplinary team. The role delivers clinic-based services across triage, recalls and reminders, chronic disease management, child and maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, aged care, immunisation and health promotion.

You will participate in the rotational initial triage roster, coordinate consumer recalls and reminders, and provide clinical leadership and mentoring to Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Aboriginal Enrolled Nurses. The role supports GPs through the preparation of care plans, health assessments, and reviews, while building the capability of AHPs and ENs to undertake these activities.

Key responsibilities include:

- Participating in the rotational initial triage roster and coordinating consumer recalls and reminders for health checks, immunisations and chronic disease reviews.




- Delivering primary health care across chronic disease management, child and maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, immunisation, aged care and preventive screening.
- Supporting GPs by preparing care plans, health assessments and chronic disease reviews, and undertaking wound care, pathology collection, ECGs and other clinical procedures within scope.
- Providing daily mentoring, clinical guidance and supervision to Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Aboriginal Enrolled Nurses.
- Delivering health education and coaching to consumers and families, and contributing to BRAMS-led community events and outreach activities.
- Delivering all care in line with the BRAMS Model of Care, Clinical Governance Framework and Quality Care Framework.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation in MMEx and contributing to data collection on clinical performance indicators.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- The ability to deliver culturally secure, trauma-informed care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families.
- A current Australian issued Driver's Licence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with families and community members.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary or primary health care team.
- The ability to provide mentoring,



supervision and clinical guidance to Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Enrolled Nurses.
- Experience preparing care plans, health assessments and chronic disease reviews.
- Competence in wound care, pathology collection, immunisation, medication administration and infection prevention.

Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service or remote community, and qualifications in Public Health or Chronic Disease Management, will be highly regarded.
