Experienced Cabinetmaker / Joiner

Commercial & Custom Joinery | Workshop + Onsite Installation

Gold Coast | Full-Time

Design Group is looking for an experienced Cabinetmaker / Shopfitter to join our Gold Coast team.

We manufacture and install high-quality commercial and custom joinery, specialising in gaming room refurbishments, feature/privacy screens, poker machine bases and bespoke joinery.

We do considerably more than standard square cabinetry, with regular curved laminating, built-up components, detailed mitre work and custom fabrication.

We're looking for an experienced tradesperson who enjoys this type of work and is equally capable in the workshop and on site.

Proven onsite joinery installation experience is essential for this position. There are opportunities to develop your skillset further as we are constantly innovating to stay ahead of the competition.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on the project, your work will include:

- Manufacturing commercial and custom joinery

- Reading and interpreting detailed shop drawings

- Accurate mitring work

- Curved laminating, forming and fabrication

- Manufacturing built-up and shaped components

- Laminating and applying decorative finishes

- Cabinet assembly and hardware fitting

- Cutting and processing panels

- Operating panel saws

- Operating and setting up edgebanders

- Working with CNC-machined components

- General workshop machining and fabrication

- Quality checking completed work

- Preparing projects for delivery and installation

- Setting out and installing joinery on site

- Scribing, levelling, fixing and finishing

- Problem-solving site and fitment issues

- Working alongside builders, clients and other trades

- Occasional regional and interstate installation work

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with solid trade experience who can take ownership of their work.

You will need:

- Proven onsite cabinetmaking, joinery or shopfitting installation experience

- Strong cabinetmaking and joinery skills

- Ability to confidently read and interpret shop drawings

- Strong understanding of cabinet construction and manufacturing methods

- Experience with commercial woodworking machinery

- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship

- Good practical problem-solving skills

- Confidence working independently when required

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team

- Professional attitude when working on client sites

- Current Australian driver's licence

Not Your Typical Cabinetmaking Role

If you're looking to spend every day assembling the same kitchen carcasses, this probably isn't the position for you.

Our projects regularly involve:

- Curved and laminated joinery

- Detailed mitred components

- Built-up and shaped components

- Feature and privacy screens

- Gaming room joinery

- Poker machine bases and surrounds

- Specialist decorative finishes

- Bespoke one-off components

We have a well-equipped workshop with CNC machinery, panel saws,

edgebanders and the equipment required to manufacture our work in-house.

There is plenty of variety, and you'll regularly be required to think through how something should be built rather than simply repeating the same production process.

A Good Place to Work

We have a solid, capable team and a genuinely good working environment.

We value people who take pride in their work, get along with the people around them and are willing to help each other when required.

You'll be working alongside experienced people in a workshop where good workmanship is appreciated and capable tradespeople are trusted to get on with the job.

We take the quality of our work seriously while maintaining a practical and enjoyable workplace.

What We Offer

- Full time, stable employment

- A good working environment with a solid team

- Interesting and varied commercial projects

- A mix of workshop and onsite work

- Well-equipped manufacturing facilities

- CNC machinery, panel saws and edgebanders

- Complex and custom work that keeps the job interesting

- Opportunities to develop experience with specialist joinery

- Regional and interstate installation work

- The opportunity to see projects through from manufacture to final installation

We're looking for someone who takes pride in producing quality work, enjoys being part of a good team and wants to work on something a little more interesting than repetitive cabinetry.

If you're an experienced cabinetmaker or joiner with strong onsite installation skills, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply with your resume and tell us a little about your workshop and onsite installation experience.
