The Opportunity

Lead the day-to-day technical operations of a busy performing arts venue, overseeing production services, equipment and teams to deliver high-quality live events. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to apply your technical expertise, support artists and presenters, and contribute to safe, professional and well-run performances.

- $43,315 Total Remuneration Package [pro-rata] inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

About You

You are an experienced theatre technician with strong hands-on expertise across audio, lighting and staging systems. Calm under pressure and safety-focused, you enjoy leading technical operations, supporting live performances and working closely with artists, presenters and crews to deliver professional, well-run events. You bring a practical mindset, robust communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead day-to-day technical operations, including production services, equipment setup, operation and maintenance.
- Plan and coordinate technical requirements for performances and events, working closely with programming and venue teams.
- Supervise and support casual technical staff and contractors to ensure professional, safe and efficient delivery.
- Maintain high standards of workplace health and safety, including procedures, inductions and duty supervision as required.





Essential Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated experience in technical production within a theatre or live events workplace, with strong working knowledge of audio, lighting and staging systems.
- Proven ability to oversee technical operations for performances and events, including planning, setup, operation and pack-down.
- Experience supervising or coordinating technical staff and contractors, with a collaborative and professional leadership style.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, with the ability to identify risks and implement safe work practices.
- Well-developed communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with artists, presenters, crews and venue staff.

Qualifications, Training and Licences

- Certificate III in Live Production, Theatre and Events (Technical Operations) or equivalent, with demonstrated industry experience.
- Relevant experience in a theatre or live events technical role, including audio, lighting and staging operations.
- Current C Class driver licence (desirable).
- Additional certifications such as Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Test and Tag (desirable).
