About the role
The Carpenter/Civil Supervisor is responsible for supervising carpentry, formwork, and civil construction activities associated with wireless telecommunications infrastructure projects. This role oversees site teams performing tower foundations, concrete works, equipment pads, shelters, fencing, access roads, and related civil works required for mobile network installations. The successful candidate will ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering drawings, telecom standards, quality requirements, and project schedules.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise daily carpentry and civil construction activities at telecom sites.
- Coordinate carpenters, labourers, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
- Monitor workforce productivity and ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved engineering and structural drawings.
- Supervise formwork and shuttering for tower foundations, equipment pads, generator pads, and retaining structures.
- Oversee construction of timber and steel formwork systems for concrete works.
- Verify dimensions, alignments,
elevations, and construction tolerances.
- Supervise excavation, trenching, reinforcement fixing, concrete placement, and backfilling operations.
- Conduct inspections of formwork, reinforcement steel, excavation depths, and concrete works.
- Promote and maintain a robust safety culture and conduct toolbox meetings and daily pre-start briefings.
About you
- Trade Qualification in Carpentry, Construction, Building Trades, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of construction experience.
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or leading-hand role.
- Experience in telecom, infrastructure, utility, or civil construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and construction drawings.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Experience with formwork and shuttering systems.
- Experience with reinforced concrete construction.
- Leadership and team supervision capabilities.
- Effective communication skills and problem-solving ability.
