Seasoned Board Director with clinical care experience and a curious mindset, invited to join the Board of an eminent national nonprofit serving the Deaf community
- You bring energy, curiosity, skills and creativity to help change lives
- Remunerated role - meets second month (mostly virtual) + some event attendances
- Solid financial foundation, well credentialed Board with high performing Executive
This national enterprise is Australia’s largest provider of whole-of-life services for Deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing individuals. Through a wide range of programs and supports, it plays a vital role in enabling individuals to make informed choices, connect to community and live their best lives. Services offer people across all stages of life, ready access to inclusive and culturally appropriate care and support. These service offerings are scrutinised by the Board to ensure they are always responsive to the real needs of the community.
Beyond its excellent inclusive service delivery, this social impact organisation also works to remove cultural and language barriers, influence public policy and promote equity. Leading with purpose, with a respect for Deaf history and language, it ensures the voices of the Deaf community are heard and respected. It is also the largest employer of Deaf people in Australia.
With the evolving Aged Care reforms in Australia, this board has chosen to proactively strengthen its leadership by aligning clinical expertise with the specific care it provides.
And this expertise will bring proficiencies around aged care, disability services, or community health, particularly within culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations or Deaf and hard of hearing communities.
Packaged within these proficiencies will be expertise in quality service delivery and clinical insight that could include allied health disciplines such as audiology, speech therapy, social work and/or in-home support.
This organisation is not a medical service provider, but a community that celebrates Deaf identity and culture on a national basis.
Consequently, this role will require candidates to bring:
- an appreciation for the diversity of communication styles and approaches within the Deaf community - and of course within the Boardroom
- experience of governance as a Director, Committee Chair or Deputy Chair in a complex organisation of scale, ideally with AICD credentials or equivalent
- Expertise in clinical governance, quality/safety oversight and community service leadership
You will also need to be an unequivocal team player.
You will willingly dedicate your time, energy, curiosity, skills and creativity to help change lives. Your empathy and leading with kindness shines through as does your commitment to champion this organisation at every appropriate opportunity.
If you believe you have what it takes to help drive mindful growth - without ever compromising “grass roots” service values and mission - then we are very keen to hear from you.
Please submit your application with a covering letter that tells your unique story and why that makes you the right person for this role.
To be considered for this role, please forward your cover letter and your resume in WORD format quoting reference number LFCCBD to ••••@windsor-group.com.au or contact Lindy Fentiman on 07 •••• •001.
