An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Metallurgist to join our team in Charters Towers.

About the role

The Metallurgist supports the optimisation of metallurgical processes within the processing plant, ensuring operational efficiency and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, this role focuses on metallurgical accounting, process optimisation, and technical support while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Process Optimisation

- Monitor and optimise plant performance to achieve metallurgical targets.

- Assist in developing and implementing process improvement initiatives.

- Conduct metallurgical test work and analyse results to improve recovery and efficiency.

Metallurgical Accounting & Reporting

- Support the maintenance of metallurgical accounting and reconciliation systems.

- Prepare and analyse daily and monthly metallurgical reports.

- Ensure accurate tracking of production data and process performance.

Sampling & Test Work

- Conduct metallurgical test work and sampling programs.





- Analyse results and provide recommendations for process improvements.

- Work with laboratory personnel to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

Mine-to-Mill Coordination

- Collaborate with Geology and Mining teams to optimise ore blending and feed strategies.

- Assist in production planning to align with metallurgical and operational goals.

Reagent & Consumables Management

- Assist with reagent monitoring and stock control.

- Ensure productive reagent usage to maximise performance and cost efficiency.

- Liaise with procurement to ensure timely replenishment of consumables.

WHS & Compliance

- Ensure metallurgical processes comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

- Conduct risk assessments and promote a strong safety culture within the plant.

- Participate in incident investigations and audits as required.

About you

- At least 5 years of experience in gold processing, with a strong focus on plant operations and metallurgical testing.

- Expertise in gold processing techniques, plant operations, and recovery optimisation.

- Analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex metallurgical and processing issues.

- Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

- High level of written and verbal communication skills.

- An ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.

- Strong technical reporting and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.

- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
