About the role:
SafeWork NSW is seeking a highly motivated Senior Advisor, Governance to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance frameworks, programs and initiatives that support effective decision-making, accountability and compliance across the organisation.
In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver governance solutions that address complex challenges, enhance organisational performance and align with government priorities. You will play a key role in shaping governance practices, driving continuous improvement and ensuring critical projects and initiatives deliver meaningful outcomes for the business.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Advisor, Governance, you will:
- Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of governance frameworks, programs and initiatives that support organisational objectives and best-practice governance outcomes.
- Prepare high-quality strategic plans, committee papers, briefings and reports, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organisation to understand business needs and translate them into practical governance solutions and services.
- Monitor governance projects and initiatives, including risk management, benefits realisation, quality assurance and performance outcomes, ensuring successful delivery.
- Build strong relationships, negotiate positive outcomes and influence stakeholders to support effective service delivery and organisational priorities.
- Identify emerging trends, risks, policy obligations and opportunities for innovation to strengthen governance capability and contribute to continuous improvement across SafeWork NSW.
- Support a culture of accountability, integrity and sound governance practices that enable sustainable organisational success.

About You:
You thrive in a quick-paced environment, building strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and influencing outcomes through collaboration, sound judgement and strong communication skills. Your ability to balance competing priorities, identify risks and opportunities, and deliver practical, customer-focused governance solutions enables you to drive organisational outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide clear recommendations and translate complex issues into practical solutions.
- Demonstrated experience preparing high-quality briefings, reports, committee papers and governance documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage projects and initiatives, including risk management, monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and a commitment to promoting best-practice governance across the organisation.
- Knowledge of government governance, risk, assurance or compliance frameworks will be highly regarded.
