About the role

Support children and young people to re-engage with education by working directly with students, families and schools to address barriers to attendance. You will manage a caseload of students experiencing attendance challenges, building trust with students and their families, coordinating support, and working collaboratively with schools and partners to improve engagement and outcomes. You will operate with a level of autonomy while receiving guidance and support for more complex matters. This is a energetic, community-based role that involves working directly with students and families across a range of settings. You will travel between schools and local areas, adapting your approach to support the needs of each student and their family.

Key responsibilities

- Manage a caseload of students with attendance challenges
- Identify barriers to engagement and develop support strategies
- Coordinate referrals and support to meet individual needs
- Facilitate meetings and formal interventions, including Secretary's Conferences
- Work with schools and stakeholders to implement support plans
- Monitor progress and adjust strategies using data and evidence
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with requirements

About you

- Communicate clearly and respectfully across a range of situations
- Remain calm and resilient when managing challenging or sensitive matters
- Show persistence when working with disengaged students and families
- Apply sound judgement and make considered decisions
- Stay organised and manage competing priorities effectively
- Work positively within a team and contribute to shared outcomes
- A relevant qualification (diploma, degree or higher) in social work, community services, youth work, education, psychology, counselling, or a related human services field
- Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment
- A current and valid driver's licence and an ability and willingness to travel between work sites
