Your opportunity
As a Speech Pathologist, you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary Allied Health team, delivering person-centred assessments, interventions and education programs on site at our Wellness Centres, across clients' homes, ECH Independent Living Units and community settings.
Through evidence-based practice and a holistic approach to care, you'll support older people to maintain and improve optimal communication and swallowing, achieve meaningful outcomes, maximise independence and live the best life possible.
You’ll make an impact by
- Conducting comprehensive speech pathology assessments and developing tailored treatment plans to support communication, swallowing and overall wellbeing.
- Delivering individual therapy, education and self-management strategies that empower clients and carers to achieve their communication and swallowing goals.
- Supporting health promotion initiatives and group programs that enhance client outcomes and community wellbeing.
- Providing individual clinic and home-based speech pathology sessions including running Talkback group sessions for people with aphasia.
- Working collaboratively with Allied Health professionals to provide holistic, person-centred care.
- Advocating for clients and supporting informed decision-making regarding their health and wellbeing.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you'll ideally have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology (or equivalent).
- Certified Practising Membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA), or eligibility to obtain membership.
- A current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one).
- A current driver's licence and the ability to travel between client locations.
- We would also love you to bring the following skills:
- Experience working with people living with aphasia and swallowing issues.
- Experience delivering speech pathology services within community health, aged care or rehabilitation settings.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- A commitment to person-centred care and positive client outcomes.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
